Dear Parishioners:
Someone sent me an email with these brief reflections. I thought that you would like them too.
If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If God had a wallet, your picture would be in it.
God sends you flowers every spring.
God sends you a sunrise every morning. Face it, God is crazy about you.
If God brings you to it, God will bring you through it.
God did not promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but God did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the Catholic Ministries Appeal. As you may recall, this is a yearly appeal from the Diocese to fund the good works of the diocese. The Catholic Ministries Appeal is not new; in fact, the Appeal is over 40 years old. The Appeal first began under Bishop McGann!
As part of the Appeal, every parish has a goal. The goal for St. Patrick is $190,000. Currently, we have $41,000 in pledges. We have 194 parishioners contributing to the Appeal so far. Let’s see if we can get to 300 parishioners by the end of August. There are envelopes at the doors of the church. As you may recall from bulletin inserts about the Appeal, the Appeal helps pay for the great work of Catholic Charities (meals-on-wheels, senior citizen housing, unwed mothers, etc.), Catholic schools and clergy formation for priests and deacons, Young Adult and college Campus Ministry, etc. No gift is too small.
Remember: Together, we can do something beautiful for God.
In Christ,
Msgr. Brian McNamara (signature)
Fr. Brian
PS: If anyone is making any changes in your home, I could use TWO (2) coffee tables. If you have one or even two coffee tables that you could donate to the rectory, please give me a call. Thank you!!
PSS: I would also like to encourage everyone to sign up for the CATHOLIC ACTION NETWORK. Go to: www.nyscatholic.org. The Catholic Conference will send you emails regarding important issues and legislation affecting us as Catholics. It is a good resource to have to know what is going on in Albany.
