Dear Parishioners:
The season of Lent is now in full swing. We are already at Week 4 of Lent; in fact, we are halfway through Lent. I hope you were able to attend all or part of the Parish Mission this past week. I think Fr. Shibi, Fr. Doug and Fr. Sean did a wonderful job leading us closer to Christ.
For some of us, Lent has been a great, spiritual season so far. If so, please continue to take advantage of the various Lenten spiritual opportunities such as Stations of the Cross every Friday (at 12:45 PM & 7:30 PM) and the Scripture Study led by Fr. Lou in the Parish Center every Friday at 6:30 PM and the special events we have every Wednesday. See PAGES 6 & 7 of the bulletin for more details concerning all of the Lenten spiritual opportunities still available here at the Parish.
For others of us, perhaps Lent has simply passed us by. Don’t despair! You are at half-time! You can still make Lent a special time. Simply start today to recommit yourself to a Lenten Discipline. God does not need a ton of time to transform us; God just needs a willing heart.
In either case, I want to highlight a special event this Wednesday. This Wednesday, March 13th at 7:30 PM, we are having a special evening of Prayer, Praise and Reflection led by Al Barbarino. Mr. Barbarino has shared his wonderful gift of music and prayer for decades now. I encourage you to attend this special evening!
Looking ahead, all the priests and deacons will lead us in an Evening of Reflection on the 7 Last Words of Christ.” For those “of an age,” you may recall that Bishop Fulton Sheen would famously preach on the 7 Last Words of Christ at St. Patrick’s Cathedral every Good Friday. While I do not think we can match Bishop Sheen, I think our priests and deacons will give a decent series of reflections!!
Remember: Together, we can do something beautiful for God. In Christ,
Fr. Brian
