Dear Parishioners:
As you know, this weekend marks the 25th anniversary of the tragedy that took place on 9-11 in Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and here in New York City at the Twin Towers. For those who were adults, I am sure you can remember where you were when you first heard the news of the attack. Twenty-five years later, we still need to pray for those who died and especially for the families of the victims. The scars of those who lost loved ones in the 9-11 attacks run very deep. We pray for those families, and we pray for peace and for an end of terrorism throughout the world. In addition, we remember our First Responders and all the members of our Armed Forces who serve us and protect us without any fanfare each and every day.
Our Annual Family Feast starts in three weeks: Friday, October 2nd thru Sunday, October 4th. Please come down and support the parish. Make sure to invite your family and friends from outside the parish as well. Don’t forget our SUPER RAFFLE. You have to be in it to win it! Tickets are $25 each and six tickets for $100. Pray for good, sunny weather!
School has started and life in the parish is back to “normal.” Our Parish school is one of the great blessings we have here in the parish. I urge all parents to consider giving your son or daughter the gift of a Catholic school education. I certainly realize that it takes a sacrifice, but I think it is well worth that sacrifice. Research studies show that students who attend Catholic school are significantly more likely to practice their faith, including the reception of the sacraments.
Remember: Together, we can do something beautiful for God.
In Christ,
Fr. Brian
PS: I want to thank all those who came out for the Labor Day Parish Clean-up party. We had a great variety of people and the Knights of Columbus were in full force!
