Dive into the world of icon painting, no experience necessary. This contemplative art joins prayer with art. Learn how to paint like the ancient masters using egg tempera, and gild with real gold leaf on wooden panels prepared with real gesso. The classes will be led by Janine Manheim who has 25 years of experience in creating icons. She has broken the process down into simple, accessible steps of painting highlights and layering transparent colors to develop the figures.
Classes meet the first Monday of the month beginning on Mon, Oct 2 from 10:00am-3:00pm and will run through June.
Supplies: $120 includes 9.5” x 12.5” panel, gold leaf, pigments and brushes.
