An Invitation to the Sacraments

07-22-2018From the Pastor's DeskFr. Sean Magaldi

This week's column was written by our Associate Pastor, Fr. Sean Magaldi.

In my three years as a priest, one thing I have become even more convinced of is the power of the Sacraments. I have seen this very vividly through my role as moderator of our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program. It has been a great joy for me to welcome dozens of people into the Church, as well as help many Catholics complete the Sacraments of Initiation.

You may wonder where our RCIA participants come from. The majority come right from the pews of St. Patrick’s. If you are one of the many St. Patrick parishioners who are not Catholic or if you were baptized Catholic and need to receive Communion and/or Confirmation, I invite you to contact me. Whether you are someone with no formal religious background or someone raised in another Christian faith, please consider joining us as we study the great treasures of the Catholic Church. We welcome any questions or objections you may have. We also welcome the curious. If you want to investigate the Catholic faith, this is the perfect venue. You are never obligated to receive Sacraments because of your participation in RCIA.

Also, if you have a child who has reached the age of seven without being baptized or a child who has reached confirmation age without being confirmed, we have an RCIA program for Young People. We would be happy to help!

Finally, if you know someone who might be interested in RCIA, please point them in our direction. Please email us at rcia@stpatricksmithtown.org to start the conversation. Also, feel free to speak to me after Mass if you are interested.

May God bless you in all that you are doing for Him.

Fr. Sean Magaldi
