At St. Joseph Renewal Center—The programs take place at St. Joseph Renewal Center at Montfort Spiritual Center, 26 S. Saxon Avenue in Bay Shore. We also offer the following programs are offered at St. Joseph Renewal Center at Montfort Retreat Center, 26 Saxon Avenue in Bay Shore:

  • Living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, first Wednesday of the month beginning Sep 6 through Jun, 1:00 - 2:30pm. Free will offering; Enduring Spirituality for Senior Men and Women, Fridays from 10:30am - 12:00pm Nov 3 and 17. Offering: $15 or $75 for all sessions.
  • Men 2 Men Gathering, second Saturday of the month beginning Sep 9 to August 2018. An offering of $20 includes breakfast.
  • A Gathering of Spiritual Women, second Tuesday of the month beginning Oct 10 through June 2018. Offering: $20. 
  • Woman’s Book Discussion, Wednesdays from 12:30 - 2:00pm Feb 28, and Mar 14 and 21. $15 per session.

Bible Study Nights - in the Our Lady of Mercy Convent basement, Jan 8, Feb 5 and Apr 9 from 7:30-9:00pm. The December Bible Study will be led by OLM's Associate Pastor, Fr. Nasir Gulfam. The guest Priest/Deacon selects a Gospel that he is passionate about, studies the text with those in attendance, and answers questions. Bring your Bible. If you need a Bible, we have extras on hand. Our Lady of Mercy Parish is located at 500 South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville. Park in back of the Church. The convent basement is located to the right of the back of the Church. See the blue awning with the descending staircase.

Candlelight Carol Sing– Wed, Dec 20 beginning at 7:30pm. Participate in singing familiar Christmas favorites and be entertained by professional musicians, handbells, and a wonderful group of singers. A featured moment of the evening is the singing of “Silent Night” with the church illuminated by only candlelight. Those arriving early (7:00pm or before) will enjoy warm cider or hot chocolate on the front plaza around a fire while a brass quintet serenades them. Admission is free, but free-will offerings are accepted.

Catholic Divorced and Separated Support Group Prayer Service and Information Session—Fri, Dec 15 from 7:00-9:00pm at St. Barnabas Church, Holy Family Chapel (located on the lower level of the church). An opportunity to pray and receive support from clergy and trained professionals in order to begin the healing and recovery process and to communicate with others. St. Barnabas is located at 2320 Bedford Avenue in Bellmore.

Ministry to Families with Special Needs—Families who have members with special needs or developmental disabilities often find it difficult to attend weekly Mass together. St. James Parish in Setauket offers a special Mass for these families each month at 1:00pm followed by refreshments and fellowship. This Mass will be offered on the following date for the remainder of 2017: Dec 9.

Retreat in Assisi and Visit Rome - Fr. Jim McNamara invites you to a special retreat in the footsteps of St. Francis and St. Clare in Assisi Jun 15 – 25, 2018. Fr. McNamara will give two conferences a day for six days in Assisi with Mass each day in the various Churches. There is ample time for prayer and visiting the holy places. The entire city of Assisi becomes the retreat house. Accommodations at the Hotel Posta in Assisi, then spend three days in Rome at Domus Carmelitana, not far from St. Peter’s.

Volunteers Needed—Maria Regina Residence, located at 1725 Brentwood Road in Brentwood, is seeking compassionate men and women who are willing to volunteer their time in varied service areas (usually one morning or afternoon per week) in assisting residents in their wheelchairs, assisting with recreational service or other needs in the building. Maria Regina Residence is a 188-bed Skilled Nursing Facility under the care of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
