Annual Dominican Gala—The Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville will host their annual gala on Fri, Nov 2 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Cocktails begin at 6:00pm followed by dinner and dancing. This year the congregation is honoring NBC Meteorologist Al Roker and Sr. Ave Clark, author and founder of the Heart to Heart Ministry in Bayside. The gala raises funds to support the ministries of the Sisters of St. Dominic.

At the St. Joseph Renewal Center—The following programs are being offered during September through December at the St. Joseph Renewal Center in Bay Shore:

  • Living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia is held the first Wednesday of the month from 1:00-2:30pm beginning Sep 5. Free will offering.
  • Men 2 Men Gathering is held the second Saturday of the month beginning Sep 8. Offering of $20 includes
    breakfast.
  • Women to Women is held the second Tuesday of the month beginning Sep 11, “Knitting into Mystery.” If you like to knit or crochet, this is the experience for you. Offering: $15 per session.
  • Day of Prayer for Men and Women, “Wrestling with God” will be offered on Sat, Sep 15. An offering of $25 includes a light lunch.
  • Enduring Spirituality for Senior Men & Woman is offered on Fridays from 10:30am-12:00pm Oct 5, 12, 19 and 26. Offering: $15 per session.
  • An Afternoon of Prayer for Married Couples, “Marriage is Like a Garden” Sun, Oct 28 from 2:00-7:00pm. An offering of $100 includes a light supper.

Donations Needed for the Life Center of Long Island— The Deer Park Life Center is in desperate need of infant/toddler car seats, cribs (non-drop side), and strollers. Additionally, our Massapequa and Hempstead centers need boys’ and girls’ summer clothes (12 to 24 months, new or gently used), infant/toddler car seats (less than six years old), pack and plays, crib (non-drop side), diapers, and wipes.

Eucharistic Retreat Day - hosted by the Missionaries of The Most Holy Eucharist on Sun, Sep 9 from 8:00am-5:00pm at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington. “Field of Dreams” Youth Baseball Clinic hosted by St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, Sun, Aug 26 at the Smithtown High School East baseball field, 10 School Street in St. James. 11:30am-12:00pm check in, 12:00-1:00pm clinic, 1:30pm lunch served by local volunteer firemen and women. This free clinic is open to children age 6 to 14. NY Mets local Long Island scout Larry Izzp and Minnesota Twins scout Jon Mauchan will be on hand to coach and answer questions. Major league instructors will include: Frank Catalanotto, Art Shamsky, Fred Cambria, Frank Tepedino, Ed Kranepool, Bill Pulsipher, Rich Schmidt, and Kevin Baez. Space is limited.

Gennesaret Retreat - A retreat specially designed for persons who live with a serious illness is planned for Sep 21, 22, and 23 at the Montfort Spirituality Center in Bay Shore.
